I'm super awesome and popular, bitch

Dogs Wearing Pantyhose, A Popular New Meme in China

Just want to avoid any confusion because I’m old and can’t use tumblr well.  I am the owner of both superawesomeandpopular and nostigmaattached.  The former is where I reblog things, and try to keep it light.  The latter is my blog dedicated to my own mental illness and how I cope with it.  I don’t know how obvious tumblr makes it when I accidentally reblog with the wrong blog, but I’m working on it.  I have a bit of a fuzzy brain and I don’t want to cause confusion.

Something interesting I was reading on a forum: do all schizophrenics/schizoaffectives have a “they”? Someone who’s after them or conspiring against them? Most I’ve met do. I do. But I don’t know about all. But it makes me want to talk about my “they” and what I think they do to me.

My main…

Not all of them do. There are 5 main subtypes to Schizophrenia and Schizoaffective disorders. The most common is the paranoia subtype, which is where you get the ‘they’ starting to happen and grow and grow. The people with this subtype can have very mild symptoms to very severe. Also, what subtype you fall under does not mean you don’t exhibit symptoms of the other types (positive, negative, and cognition.) the other four major subtypes are: residual, catatonia, disorganized, and undifferentiated. The type you fall under usually doesn’t serve but so much importance in treatment medically, but it does serve to acknowledge what triggers and problems you have, personally, and to try to avoid those things or take preventative measures. And I apologize if this didn’t fully come out in a manner that makes sense because I am typing it from my phone and it is 2 am and I haven’t been sleeping for awhile. But.. Hopefully that helps to answer your initial question slightly.

-Many Schizophrenics do have paranoia symptoms, but the degree and severity varies from person to person and sometimes that trait is not even exhibited in a patient at all.-

Thank you for the information.  I know so few other schizo-spectrum people in real life that I don’t know if what I deal with is typical.  You’ve made me want to do more research on it.  I see on a lot of forums that a lot of people do, but maybe something like that would be reported more frequently than some other symptoms.  I’m not sure how all this works - I’m relatively newly diagnosed and I’m coming to terms with a lot.

Ultimate Guide to Nuts: An Infographic by Greatist!

I don’t normally reblog things like this, but this is so helpful!

I love nuts.

A version for tumblr that can be read without opening a new tab, since plenty of people would scroll past this story otherwise.

George Bush is a war criminal

George Bush is a war criminal

I got dressed in my traditional Indian regalia, but there was a man, he was the producer of the whole show. He took that speech away from me and he warned me very sternly. “I’ll give you 60 seconds or less. And if you go over that 60 seconds, I’ll have you arrested. I’ll have you put in handcuffs.”

- Sacheen Littlefeather in Reel Injun (2009), dir. Neil Diamond.

They were MAD, CONFUSED AND PRESSED that Marlon Brando would betray White Supremacy in this way.

To this very day, they are TWISTED over this.

And when Littlefeather got up there and READ THEM FOR FILTH, they GAGGED. For eons.

So I imagine there are people like me out there who’ve never even heard of Marlon Brando and are extremely confused over why this is important.

Marlon Brando was the Don in The Godfather, and in 1973, he was nominated for and won an Academy Award for it. However, he was also a huge Natives rights activist, and boycotted the ceremony because he felt that Hollywood’s depictions of Native Americans in the media led to the Wounded Knee Incident (which I was always taught as “the second massacre at Wounded Knee” but apparently that’s not the real name). He sent Sacheen Littlefeather, an Apache Native rights activist, in his stead. Wikipedia’s article on her explains the rest:

Brando had written a 15-page speech for Littlefeather to give at the ceremony, but when the producer met her backstage he threatened to physically remove her or have her arrested if she spoke on stage for more than 60 seconds.[5] Her on-stage comments were therefore improvised. She then went backstage and read the entire speech to the press. In his autobiography My Word is My BondRoger Moore (who presented the award) claims he took the Oscar home with him and kept it in his possession until it was collected by an armed guard sent by the Academy.

That is what this gifset is about.

You have GOT to read up on this. The Wounded Knee Incident, Marlon Brando and Sacheen Littlefeather, Anna Mae Aquash. ALL OF IT.

Her name was known in my house, I hope it’s known in many, many more in the future.

I’ve never even heard of this until now.
